August 2016 to May 2017
Mark May 6th and 7th on your Calendars! (Poster)
On those dates the Academy of Performing Arts will celebrate its 16th Annual Children’s Theatre Performance with the production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, directed and produced by Luanna Luxton Armstrong. Our original adaptation of the classic tale brings the story to life.
The Magic Mirror, will transport the audience to a time long ago when a Princess named Snow White was forced to flee into the forest to escape the wrath and jealousy of an Evil Queen.
It was there, in the forest, that she found love and protection in the home of the Seven Dwarfs. And it was there that she was saved from the sleeping death by love’s first kiss.
The dancers, actors, dazzling costumes and props along with classical and top of the charts contemporary music and dance styles create a unique one of a kind theatre experience. The talented dancers ranging from age three to adult performing ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop, acrobatics and cabaret are woven into the fabric of the show and enrich the story.
Taylor Masters brings charm and sweetness to the role of SNOW WHITE. PRINCE CHARMING is portrayed by a seasoned dancer and actor Harry Worden. Both Taylor and Harry have appeared in all the Academy’s productions over the past 16 years and have brought joy to audiences every time. The voice of the MAGIC MIRROR is brought to life by Tim Ellis of Eagle Radio as he narrates parts of the story. Lisa Chambers as the OLD CRONE will captivate you. Luanna Luxton Armstrong reigns as the EVIL QUEEN. The HUNTSMAN and the PEASANT WOMAN with the poisoned combs are played by Will Odbert and Christal Matchinski. THE SEVEN DWARFS are: Michael Bontrager, Brooklyn Parish, Kaylie Crimin, Kiahna Sanderson, Audrey Jacobs, Ava Jacobs and Madison Wilton.
The lessons of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs remind us of the truth that marks all beloved fairy tales. True beauty resides in a pure and loving heart. Such beauty cannot be destroyed - it is eternal, unlike the fleeting, superficial beauty of the Evil Queen that fades with the passage of time. Unselfishness, friendship, loyalty and commitment in the service of good will always win out in the end.
Once again, the Academy is proud to acknowledge the enthusiasm and support of the whole community, and the many contributors not only to this presentation but to all of our past productions.
